General Information about the Arizona Nutrition Network
Who we are:
The Arizona Nutrition Network is a program by the Arizona Department of Health Services. The Arizona Nutrition Network promotes health and nutrition to people who are getting food stamps or are food stamp eligible.
What is our mission:
To promote nutrition and health, and reduce disease among people living in Arizona.
What we do:
The Network helps its partners in giving nutrition education. This is done through statewide campaigns, print materials, and through community nutrition programs.
How we work:
The Network is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The Network then helps fund local programs that spend money on nutrition education. This funding helps local programs expand their current nutrition education.
Where we go:
The Network is statewide. Partners are all across the state from many programs. Examples are: Health Departments, Native American tribes, School Districts, Food Banks, and non-profit agencies.
The fruits and vegetables campaign:
Discover the Power of Fruits and Veggies promotes eating plenty of fruits and vegetables to kids and their families. Fruits and veggies are tasty, nutritious and easy to eat!
The milk campaign:
Go Low! promotes drinking 1% low fat or fat free milk to kids and their families. Low fat and fat free milk have all of the vitamins and minerals of whole milk, without all the fat!
The healthy eating campaign:
Grow a Healthy Child promotes eating healthy and eating meals together as a family. Eating meals as a family is a great way to share time and share healthy foods!
The physical activity campaign:
Make Your Move promotes getting active and increasing physical activity to kids and their families. It’s easy to be active, and fun!
